Topic hunting and topic gathering
Subject hunting and subject gathering are an important part of the production process in Woods of Norway .
We rarely use industrially produced standard wood here. That's part of what makes our products so unique and beautiful.
Snow-broken trees in the high mountains, or necessary thinning and clearing of storm-fallen trees in the forest, provide safe access to many exciting topics.
"Osterøy" - Here at the subject collection on Osterøy outside Bergen, where we have felled an old knotty birch due to necessary thinning of the forest and started working on the most exciting part of the tree. The birch root, with its fantastic patterns and play of colors, is the "inner fillet". Here there are opportunities to create many beautiful and unique things.
Driftwood
Old wood that has been washed and aged in a river or fjord for many years achieves its own rustic beauty.
Woods of Norway often uses such materials.
Therefore, there will be many long and beautiful trips to find subjects for the exclusive production.
"Tufte Bru" - From a subject hunt along the Usteåne River between Ustaoset and Geilo. Here is beautiful Tufte Bru – built in the old fashioned way.
Inspiration
Wild animals and wilderness life are often themes in the collection from Woods of Norway .
Here is an example of a golden combination of old recycled materials and extreme redesign.
This proud eagle is hand-carved from a discarded rustic Krogenæs pine dining table, and placed on a hundred-year-old column from an old sea hut in Bergen.
A typical product from Woods of Norway. Made with insight and respect for nature, and with a low climate footprint.
"The Eagle" - The artist combines woodcarving and various painting techniques in a rare way. The eagle's head is painted with a special technique that gives a unique play of feathers, and the vibrant eye painting gives the eagle a majestic expression.
The collection
The collection contains many figures based on history, with themes from the Viking Age, Norse mythology, fairy tales, legends and superstitions.
Here is a dragon that has influenced many fairy tales from long ago.
Woods of Norway creates atmosphere and tells stories. Adds character, personality and atmosphere.
A product from Woods of Norway gives a clear signature in the room and gets noticed.
"The Dragon" - Made from the same historic recycled materials as The Eagle. See more pictures of the dragon in the Image Gallery and Webshop.
Creativity and attention to detail
This ring bearer hardly needs any further introduction for a fantasy enthusiast.
Playfulness and patience were important ingredients as Gollum was gradually brought out with all his complex personality in this hand-carved wooden sculpture.
Done with passion and empathy.
Creativity, hard work and focus on detail characterize every product from Woods of Norway.
"Gollum" - With a toothpick made of rusty nails, and tufts of hair made of well-worn guitar strings with the reverberation of heavy metal riffs in the basement room. See more pictures in the Image Gallery and Webshop.
Unwanted Wood Creations
The artist has many different expressions.
Here is a dreamy face with dramatic and beautiful drawings from a soured, cracked old birch trunk.
The figure stands out not only with its unique wood, but also with its creative design.
Please see more pictures in the photo gallery and Webshop.
Woods of Norway beautifies, amazes and surprises, and creates lasting value. Perhaps also good returns over time.
